Born March 28, 1954 in Urbana, IL, he was the son of Herman T. and Lois Maxine (Goddard) Smith.
John worked most his life as a truck driver.
Survivors include his dear friend and significant other, Linda Ticknor of Decatur; three sisters, Rosealice Munds of Monticello, IL, Cindy Stevens of Crawfordsville, IN, and Connie Hacker of Thomasboro, IL; and many extended family and friends.
