John Rhoads

John William Rhoads, 89, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Born December 5, 1934 in Jersey County, he was the son of Carey Cecil and Bertha (Kirby) Rhoads. Mr. Rhoads served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a maintenance inspector for the FAA. 

He married the former Ida Byrl Craigmiles. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Joni (Donald) Tucker of Edwardsville, a son, Jack (Alice) Rhoads of Troy, IL, four grandchildren, Katy and Chris Tucker, Rene (Scott) Peniston, and Carey (Lisa) Rhoads, and three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Cole and Levi Rhoads. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelley Banach, two brothers, Robert and Carl Rhoads, and five sisters, Doris, Helen, Betty, Mary, and Katie. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
