GRAFTON – John Randall Rothe, 83, died unexpectedly at 9:30 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2016 at his home in Grafton.

He was born on September 1, 1933 at the family home in Roxana, IL , to John Anton & Charlotte (Dimwitty) Rothe.

After graduating High School, John went on to serve our country honorably with the United States Navy in the Korean War.

He later married the former Janice Tolley on July 11, 1974 in Las Vegas, NV and together they have shared 42 years together.

John & Janice lived in Alton for the first five years of their marriage, at which time John worked for Nestle Foods in Granite City. In 1979, they relocated to Globe, AZ and John began working in the Engineering Department in the Copper Industry, retiring in 1995 after 20 years of service.

Shortly after his retirement, he and Janice moved back to the area and settled in rural Grafton, where they have remained and shared many memories together for the past 18 years.

He was known for his love of motorcycles and was a NASCAR enthusiast.

Surviving are his wife, Janice of Grafton; two daughters, Linda Morgan & Susan Rothe; two sons, Randy & Shawn Rothe; two step-daughters, Denise Hanson & Sandy Sanders; a step-son, James Evans; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Elizabeth Brenton.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Anton Rothe and his mother, Charlotte Harmon; as well as a brother, Kenneth Rothe.

Private burial will take place at the Upper Alton Cemetery .
