John F. Leidel, age 62 of Greenville, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday November 7, 2024.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home.

John Frederick, the son of William and Dorothy “Dot” Baumgartner Leidel, was born February 15, 1962, in Greenville. John grew up in Greenville, where he attended the local schools. While in school John played basketball, football and baseball. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1980. John and Linda Hoffmann were united in marriage on September 16, 1983. They enjoyed 41 years of marriage.
John served our country in the United States Air Force between 1986-1990. Parents of daughter Nicole Sizemore and husband David of St. Jacob, Illinois and son Christopher Leidel and wife Samantha of Greenville. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Audrey, Daisy, and Brendan.
He was a loving brother to: Jeff Leidel and wife Bonnie of Greenville, Cynthia Rice of Greenville, Linda Walker Schutte and husband Jim of Greenville, Tim Leidel of Greenville, and Amy Alderman and husband Randy of Greenville. Wonderful uncle to Becca Wittig and husband BJ, Libby Goodall and husband Joe, Bill Walker and wife Annie, Dan Walker and wife Megan, Tom Walker and wife Michelle, Eric Walker and wife Chrissa, Clayton Walker and wife Tori, Katelyn Hoerchler and husband Derek, Ryan Alderman and wife Kaitlyn, Kassidy Janes and husband Hayden, and Molly Alderman. John also had many great nieces and nephews and extended family he loved as well.
