John L. Geisen, 86, passed away at 11:35 am, on Thursday December 5, 2013 at Alton Nursing and Rehab.He was born in Alton, IL on March 6, 1927 the son of the late William and Ann (Entenener) Geisen.John married Darlene Lewis on November 11, 1950 in Alton, she survives.He served his country in the US Army during World War II. He worked as an electrician at Duncan Foundry for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL.He is survived by his wife: Darlene; one daughter and her spouse: Sheila and Timothy Starkey of Alton; three son’s and their spouses: John “Jerry” and Veronica Geisen, of Alton, Richard Geisen of Wood River, and Randall and Tammy Geisen of Edwardsville; fifteen grandchildren: Mary Yoder, John D. Geisen, Viola Ashner, Victoria Pockington, Valerie Ward, Shelly Coonrod, Jeffrey Greer, Jennifer Mills, Richard Geisen Jr., Christina Pollock, Christopher Geisen, Randall Geisen Jr., Steven Geisen, James Geisen, Jason Geisen; 5 step grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. John is also survived by one brother and his spouse; James and Bernadine Geisen of Alton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Katherine Buehlman and four brothers; William, Leo, Joe and Henry Geisen.In celebration of his life visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.Funeral Mass will be at 11 am, Monday, December 9, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.Burial will be at a latter date at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
