John “Jack” Rhoades

John “Jack” Rhoades, 77, died at 6:20 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2014 at his residence. He was born October 7, 1937 in Alton the son of the late Herbert and Loraine (Osborne) Rhoades. He retired in 1996 after 40 years as an aerospace supervisor with McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO. He loved his car club and owned multiple award winning vehicles. He was a senior Olympian and a member of the Alton High School Wall of Fame. On June 1, 1996 he married Nellie “Jan” (Allen-Steele) and she survives. Also surviving are one son Scott Rhoades and his wife Kristen of Aldie, Virginia, three step-daughters; Tonya Rynders (David), Tammy Fee (Dwayne) and Tina Luketick, twelve grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Kim Rhoades, two brothers; “Junior” Rhoades and Kenny Rhoades. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. at GENT Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Jerry MeCaskey to officiate. Burial will be private.
