John Gleason

John H. Gleason, Sr., 69, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at his residence.
Born on February 21, 1949 in Alton, he was the son of Edward Walter Gleason and Ellen (McClanahan) Baylor.
He had been a driver for Waste Management Systems for 32 years before retiring.
On June 23, 1970 in Wood River, he married Alta B. Bain. She survives.
Surviving also are a son, John H. Gleason, Jr. of Cottage Hills; grandchildren John H. III, Jacob, Chasey, Jerad, Damen and Jordan Gleason; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Walter (Sheila) Gleason and Eddie (Jan) Gleason all of Cottage HillsButch (Mary) Gleason of East Alton; sisters, Nancy Cherry and Mattie Gleason of Cottage Hills, Pat Zappa of East Alton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents and a sister, Alma Gleason preceded in death.
A Celebration of Life Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15 from 1 pm until time of service at 3 pm at the Bethalto Church of God Church - Wood River Campus, 1332 Miland St, Wood River.
