John Frederick Curry, 74, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.

Born March 19, 1943 in Alton, he was the son of John W. and JoAnn Curry.

John was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam as a Sgt.  He was a life member of Alton VFW Post #1308 and also a member of the Alton Moose Lodge.  He worked as a 4 stand tandem mill roller for Olin Brass, retiring in 1998.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Karen Curry of Alton; a sister, Jill and her husband Marshall Bohlmeyer of Houston, Tex.; two sisters-in-law, Kim (Dennis) Droege of Golden Eagle and Kathy (Doug) Walters of Iowa; niece Kelsey (Kevin) Halemeyer and their children Cole and Carter; niece and nephew Kayla (Nick) Turner and their children Logan and Ainsley and Kenny (Ashley) Droege and their children Brooklyn and Talyon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Kenneth F. and Josephine Herter; and two brothers-in-law, Larry James and Kenneth Wayne Herter.

Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Paynic Home for Funerals from noon until services begin at 1 p.m.  The VFW Post #1308 Ritual Team will perform military honors.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alton VFW Post #1308 Ritual Team or to the House of Victory, Cottage Hills.
