John Seibold

John E. “Jack” Seibold, 90, died at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his home in Godfrey. Born January 30, 1926 in Alton, he was the son of Julius and Nellie (Harrington) Seibold. He attended SS Peter & Paul Catholic School and served in the U.S. Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1308, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. He retired from the quality control lab of Shell Oil Company in Roxana after 37 years of service. On February 12, 1957 he married the former Bessie Bess in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are four children, Daniel Seibold, Joyce McGeehan, James Michael Seibold, and Pat (Mike) Fisher, six grandchildren, Sue (Aaron) Thomas, Michael McGeehan, Jacqueline McGeehan, Maria Baum, Thomas Buie and Daniel Buie, and three great grandchildren, Fisher Thomas, Jaxon McGeehan, and Dexter McGarity. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Helena Buie, an infant grandson, and siblings, Mary, Elizabeth, Daniel, Helen, Julius, Frank, Albert and Agnes. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.
