John D. Summers, age 68, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1948, in Alton, the son of John and Shirley Summers.
He married Edna Louise Baker on December 21, 1991. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2015.
John enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, collecting coins and beanie babies. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Roger) Lawrence of Wood River; two grandchildren, Jonathan (Shannon) Lawrence of East Alton and Brandon Lawrence of Wood River.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a step daughter, Stacy Murphy.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 4 to 7pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 10 am on Monday, February 20, 2017 with Pastor Tim Keller officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
