JoAnne Smith, 78, passed away at 3:30 am on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on April 16, 1938 in Floyd, Arkansas, the daughter of Wayne and Ruby (Malcolm) Pruitt.
She married Bruce Smith on September 7, 1974 in Florissant, Missouri. Together they had one child, Julie. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2016.
She worked at Boeing for several years. JoAnne was a member of River of Life Church in Alton. She enjoyed spending time with her family,
bargain shopping, music, camping, traveling and dancing. JoAnne was the best mom and was very loving, caring, supportive and would be there for anyone in need. She could work circles around you on yard work.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Teresa Pugh (Greg Brickson), Jeff (Lisa) Pugh, Lisa (Jim) Scott, Julie (Steve) Leipard; seven grandchildren, Steven Pugh, Lori Pugh, Jimmie Scott III, Jessica Scott, Darrian Connoyer, Rylen Leipard, Jaxen Leipard; two great grandchildren, Kaia Pugh, Peyton Pugh and one on the way, Elias Pratt; eight sisters, Barbara Pate, Billie Mikel, Bonnie McGee, Pat Collier, Linda Venters, Dorothy Riggs, Janie Angel, Debbie Holland.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 4 to 8 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Graveside Service will be at 2 pm on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Ebenezer Cemetery in West Alton, MO with Pastor Fred Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
