JoAnn Linette Piacentini, 91, passed away at 1:52 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 4, 1933, in Alton, IL, JoAnn was the daughter of John F. and Etta Mae (Feldwisch) Webber.
JoAnn graduated from Alton High School in 1952 and married Cecil H. Andrews that same year in Alton. He preceded her in death in 1975. She later married Joseph L. Piacentini, in May of 1986 in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death in 2003.
JoAnn and her second husband, Joe, were dog-lovers and cherished their shih tzus, Princess and Ginger.
JoAnn held several positions throughout the years; she worked retail at Frederick's of Hollywood in Jamestown Mall, as a secretary at Queen Insurance (where she met her longtime friend, Shirley Pohlman), JoAnn was a phone operator at Alton Memorial Hospital and at a hotel in Chicago. She retired from CBW Transport, where she was a bookkeeper.
JoAnn was a former member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton. She loved entertainment, and her favorite singer was Tom Jones. She was thrilled to see him perform a few times; once with her friend, Shirley; once with her sister-in-law, Joyce, and also with her dear stepdaughter, Rita Kelley. Her favorite talk show host was Johnny Carson. She saw him perform in Las Vegas in 1978.
JoAnn enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, attending German dances, and traveling. Some of her adventures included bus trips with the Sunrise and Presley motor coach tours and 4 cruises to several Caribbean destinations. Her various travel partners were her daughter, Cathi, grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah, and her friend, Shirley. Lastly, she finally got to take her "bucket list - train trip" to Sedona, AZ in 2017, with her daughter, Cathi, where she and Cathi created many cherished memories.
JoAnn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathi R. (Sam) Culbertson of Godfrey; a grandson and his wife, Christopher (Heather) Edler of St. Charles, MO; a granddaughter, Sarah Linette Edler of Denver, CO; nieces and nephews: William Webber (Donna), Julie Webber, Nanette Worley (Mick), Brad Andrews (Janet), and Nancy Andrews, along with many extended family members and good friends.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, Mark Andrews in 1964; a brother, Jack Webber; and a sister, Sharon Kessler in 2021.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL, with Rev. Jim Johnston officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
