Joan Derricott, 83, passed away at 4:20 pm Tuesday December 24, 2013 in Alton, IL with her family by her side.

She was born in Alton, on October 1, 1930 the daughter of the late Isadore and Lenora (Reeder) Hanei.

She is survived by the love of her life, Rodley Derricott, whom she married on March 28, 1952 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton.

She was employed as a Registered Nurse for Laclede Steel Manufacturing. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton. She was a member of the Kousin’s Klub, the Guild of Grace, and served on the Advisory Board of the Order of the Rainbow’s for Girls. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and sewing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters; Jill and her spouse Fin Teasley of Reisdville, N.C, Susan Kokos of Alton, IL and Carol Okamoto of Arlington Heights, IL, six grandchildren; Beth Sinks, Ben Teasley, Stephanie Copley, Michael Kokos II, Kevin Okamoto and Katie Okamoto, nine great grandchildren; John Thomas Sinks, Hannah Sinks, Nora Teasley, Eli Teasley, Kailei Copley, Maddie Copley Liyah Kokos, Liam Kokos and Michael Kokos III and a sister-in-law; Patsy Williams of Alton. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother; Robert Hanei.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9 am until time of service at 11 am, Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton with Fr. David Boase officiating.

Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded and Inurnment will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal  Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
