Jo Lee, age 80, of Godfrey, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home.
She was born April 25, 1936, in Marion Kentucky. She was the daughter of John Grayott and Ellen (Terry) Hurley. Jo married Ron Lee on April 15, 1955 in Alton, and he precedes her in death.
Upon graduation from high school, Jo was employed as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell Telephone. Jo was a member of the Elm St. Presbyterian Church in Alton. She also was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her life centered around her family; she took pride in her family and making her house a home.
Jo is survived by her two sons, R. Dwayne Lee ( Barbara) of Godfrey, and D. Kent (Ruth) Lee of Grafton; three granddaughters, Katy Lee of Alton, Kim (Travis) Widman of Godfrey, and Kari Lee of Grafton; five great grandchildren, Wyatt, Grayson, Eli, Mason, and Abigail; two brothers, John Hurley, and Terry Hurley; one sister, Judy (Sam) Sunley; and sister-in-law Ruby Lee.
Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her brothers: Gene Hurley, Billy Hurley, and Noel Hurley.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2016, from 5 pm until the time of service at 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A private family burial will be held at Bethany Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eunice Smith Memory Care Unit.
