Jimmie Burgess

Jimmie O'Neal Burgess, 68 of Brighton, died at 8:53 A.M. on Tuesday, February 14th, 2017 at his home.

He was born to the late Calvin & Blondell (Lewis) Burgess on November 24, 1948 in McQuen, Tennessee.

Jimmie married Sandra Sue (Mayberry) Burgess on June 18, 1971 in Hartford, Illinois.  She survives and resides in Brighton.

He was a operator for Central Stone Rock Quarry, who also served our country in the United States Army Viet Nam War.  Jimmie belonged to the Veterans of Foreign War Cottage Hills Post #7678 and the Disable American Veterans.

Besides his wife, survivors include 2 daughters; Jamie (Chad) Naylor of Brighton, Diane Burgess of St. Louis, Missouri, 1 grandson; Jimmie Naylor, 4 sisters , 5 brothers

Preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton.

Funeral Service will be at noon on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton.  Alton VFW Post #1308 will be providing military burial rites.

Burial will be at Brighton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Disable American Veterans
