Jerry Wayne Whitehead Sr. passed away at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, February 3, 2019 at his home with his family.
Jerry was born March 24, 1941 in Hampshire, Tennessee, one of 10 children of the late Dan and Julie (Savage) Whitehead. Jerry worked at the Olin Corporation for 33 years retiring in 2000.
He leaves behind his wife, Janice Kay (Hazelwood) Whitehead of 49 years and two sons, Jeffery Whitehead and Jerry Whitehead Jr., and one daughter, Christy (Wuench) Dennis Pirok. Six grandchildren, Caleb Whitehead, Kody Whitehead, Matthew Whitehead, Nathan Waters, McKenzie Riggins, and Kayleigh Pirok and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019. Reverend Randy Butler will officiate.
He will be laid to rest at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, MO.
