Jerry Staten

Jerry Lee Staten, 86, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at his home. Jerry was a retired clinical psychologist in the Metro East. He was born October 31, 1931, in Alton, Illinois the son of the Chester & Nola Fern (Shirley) Staten. He married Nancy (Nicol) Vetter on November 28, 1998, at Immanuel Methodist Church in Edwardsville. Besides his wife, Nancy he is survived by 4 sons, Michael Staten & wife Carla of Jerseyville, Eric Staten & wife Mary of East Alton, Shawn Vetter & wife Trina of Glen Carbon, and Tim Vetter & wife Melissa of Glen Carbon; 1 daughter, Susan Beckley & husband Ed of Fairfield, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Kayli, Rachel, Jamis, Jacob, Holly, Becky, Nick, Lexi, Kai, and Edie; 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard Nicol, Joseph Hines & wife Connie, and Phil Boileau & wife Lanette and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Peggy Hicks. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended church every Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville. He was a volunteer for Heartland Hospice. A memorial visitation will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church from 9 am until 11 am Friday, August 10, 2018. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at St. Boniface Church with Fr. Daniel Bergbower officiating. Jerry was cremated according to his wishes. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given Heartland Hospice, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, or Metro East Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
