Jennifer Miller

Jennifer Joanne (Walden) Miller, age 48, passed away at her home in Steelville, Mo, on Thursday, October 26, 2017. 

Raised in Medora, IL, Jenni was the child of Jeanette (Ford) Layman and the late Terry Barnard. Born on September 27, 1969, she was the oldest of four children. 

A 1987 graduate of Southwestern High School, she was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1989-1992. Jenni married Rodney Miller of East Alton, IL, on July 21, 2001 at Little Sturgis in Kentucky. She was looking forward to becoming a grandmother. 

Jenni was a beautiful soul inside and out, her smile lit up the room. Never meeting a stranger, she made everyone feel like family. Jenni always left the house open to anyone and everyone. She was a creative soul. She enjoyed cooking, working with stained glass, making candles, and DIY Home Improvement. She also enjoyed taking care of her dogs, cats, and goats. 

Jennifer was preceded in death by her father and step father, Richard Layman.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney Miller; four children- Jessica (Daniel Floyd), Jacob, Kelsie, and Dalton (Harlie Mitchell) of East Alton, IL; as well as her mother, Jeanette Layman of Godfrey, IL; three siblings- Cindi and Randy Rieke of Hillsboro, IL, Kris and Lisa Walden of Donellson, IL, and Adam and Michelle Walden of Plainview, IL; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the East Alton Recreation Center at 615 3rd St, East Alton, IL, 62024 on Saturday, November 4th from 2-5pm. 

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the family. 

Marks Mortuary in Wood River was in charge of arrangements.
