Jeffry K. Bowman, 58, died at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born September 2, 1958 in Alton he was the son of Margaret “Ilene” (Chastain) Bowman of Godfrey and the late Bill Bowman. Jeffry was a member of Heartland Baptist Church in Alton. He enjoyed genealogy and fishing. He loved watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, and enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play ball. On November 14, 1980 he married the former Becky Ambrose in Alton. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter and two sons, Erin Sumpter, Chris Bowman (Rhonda) and Eric Bowman all of Alton, seven grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Cathy, and Steven Starnes, Jayden Henderson, Bradley Huber and Ian Bowman, two brothers, Robert and Terry Bowman, and three sisters, Barbara Davis, Jeanne Sherman, and Melissa Murphy. Along with his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Bowman. A memorial visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
