Jerseyville |

JERSEYVILLE – Jeffrey Lee Wilson, 57, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.

He was born on July 25, 1966 in Jerseyville and was the son of the late JimmyJoe Wilson and Donna (McDaniels) Booth.

Jeff spent his early childhood years residing in Jersey and Greene Counties, ultimately settling in Jerseyville, where he remained throughout his life, raising his own family.

He married the former Mary Taylor on March 4, 1994 in Jerseyville, and throughout nearly 30 years of marriage, they were blessed with many wonderful memories together with their family and friends.

Jeff worked hard for everything he had and had a work ethic and a commitment to family that was truly something to be admired.

For over 35 years, he was employed with the City of Jerseyville, retiring in December 2020 as Code Enforcement Officer.

He was a man of many talents, and excelled at any and everything he set his mind to. Time spent in the great outdoors was where he found the most joy. Whether it be hunting, fishing, racing pigeons, showing rabbits, coon dogs or most recently, his award winning chickens, he enjoyed it all.

Some of his fondest memories were times spent with his family, camping. When his “baby girl” came into this world, he was the best Pop in the world, soaking up every moment with her and spoiled and loved her with his whole heart.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Wilson; two sons and a daughter in-law, Brandon and Jenna Taylor and Jared Wilson; a daughter, Whitney Wilson; his beloved granddaughter, Ellie Jo Taylor, all of Jerseyville; a brother and sister in-law, Darin and Paige Hardwick of Wellsville, Missouri; as well as a special cousin, who remained his lifelong best friend, John Dickerman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oliver and Sadie McDaniels; a brother, Oliver Lynn McDaniels; along with numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where a family led funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday.

Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Fidelity.

Memorials may be given to the Jersey Community High School FFA, in care of the funeral home.
