Hartford—Jeffrey Michael Horyn, 59, passed away at 5:27 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 12, 1958 in Alton, he was the son of Walter “Vic” and Mary (Webber) Horyn.
Jeffrey served in the U.S. Navy from 1977-1999, ranked EWCS (SW/SS). He worked for Alton Steel as a bar mill worker and bed operator.
He married Eva Marie Combs Dec. 9, 1983 in Godfrey. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ryan P. Gold and his wife Melissa of Shorewood, IL and Jarrod M. Horyn of Hartford; a grandson Gavin Gold; a brother, Craig Horyn and his wife Karen of St. Charles, MO; his mother-in-law, Patricia Hedrick of East Alton; a sister-in-law, Paulette Turner and her husband Danny of Alton; and a brother-in-law Raymond Combs and his wife Sally of Hartford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his fathers-in-law Sam Hedrick and Roger Combs.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6.
Burial with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
