Jeffery Miller

Jeffery Scott Miller passed away at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his home. He was born on February 21, 1955 in Jerseyville, IL, was a 1973 graduate of Jersey Community High School and worked with his father’s business, Miller Insurance Agency, until his father’s death in 1984. He continued as owner of this agency until its sale in 2000 and remained as an agent for the subsequent owners. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Elks and Lions Club.

He married Gina Bauersachs-Miller on July 19, 1999 and she survives.  He is also survived by a daughter and three sons, Beth Hanna (John Emmons) of Brighton, Scott and Keith Miller of Jerseyville, Michael Miller of Mtn. Home, ID as well as three step-children and their spouses, Ginnie (Derrick) Porter of Virden, Geremy Scott and Jenny Cometto of Coulterville, IL and Gerett (Holly) Scott of Kingwood, TX.  He will be forever known to his grandchildren and step-grandchildren as “PaPa Jeff” by Dylan Miller, Austin Darr, Christine, Shaun, and Hunter Fischer, Amelia Miller, Justin, Caleb and Malee Putman, Danika, Lylee, Alex, Ben and Summer Scott, Sydney and Colt Cometto, Dominic, Lucy, Noah and Gabriel Scott and one great-granddaughter, Addilynn Putman.

 Also surviving are his brother and sister and their spouses, Kent (Brenda) Miller of Jerseyville and Mary Michelle (Rick) Rushing of Godfrey.

Jeff was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Robin, his parents, Phyllis (Birkenmayer) Miller and F. Paul Miller, and grandparents, Earl and Cecelia Birkenmayer and Floyd and Marguerite Miller, all of Jerseyville.

Since Jeff was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, the wearing of red is welcomed at the celebration of his life at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, officiated by the Rev. Patrick Gibbons at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013. He will be laid to rest next to his daughter and mother at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice or a charity of one’s choice in Jeff’s name.
