Jeannie Lee Settles, 62, of Jerseyville, formerly of Kane, died at 10:11 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016 at her residenceShe was born in Carrollton, Il., on May 27, 1954, and was the daughter of the late Roland & Flora (DeSherlia) Pence.Jeannie grew up in Batchtown, and graduated from Calhoun High School in 1972.  On a random trip into Jerseyville with some girlfriends, Jeannie met Paul D. Settles, and the rest was history.  The two married on April 29, 1972 at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, and together they have shared 44 years together.In her earlier years, she had served as a waitress at Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton, and later entered the health care field, caring for the residents of Jerseyville Manor and Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation as a CNA.Surviving are her husband, Paul Duane Settles of Jerseyville; a daughter & son in law, Tonya & Gary Reno of Jerseyville; a  son, Nathan Reno of Jerseyville; five grandchildren, Dalton and Dax Reno, and Ashton, Sara and Seth; a sister, Sharon Kinder of Jerseyville; her father in law, Paul G. Settles of Jerseyville; a brother in law and sister in law, Eddie and Cindy Settles of Brighton.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, James Pence; and her mother in law, Delores Settles.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to her family in care of the funeral home.
