Jeanette Schranz

Jeanette Ann Schranz, nee Baclet, born May 8, 1937, in Benton, IL, died Friday, July 10, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Catherine, nee Harvath, Baclet; two brothers, Albert and Thomas Steven; three sisters, Cecilia, Maryann, and Rosalie; and a brother-in-law, Jack Schranz.

Jeanette and Stephen Schranz were married April 4, 1964, at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2021. Jeanette and Steve were involved in many activities at the Cathedral of St. Peter, including Baptism, Marriage Preparation, Cursillo in Christianity, and Catholics Come Home. They had Muny season tickets for many years, which they called their summertime date night.

Surviving Jeanette are her daughters, Stephanie M. (Eric) Johnson, Melanie L. Gniewek and a son, Stephen J. Schranz II (Milee Motz); three grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson, Whitney Schranz, and Cashen Schranz; her brother, Charles Albert Baclet; a sister-in-law, Marylin G. Carley; nephews; and many cousins.

Funeral: Private graveside services will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL. A special mass intention in honor of Jeanette will be held at 11:15 a.m. during mass at the Apartment Community Chapel at the Benedictine Living Community at the Shrine on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
