Jeanette Remelius

Jeanette Clara Remelius, nee Weissert, 95, of Swansea, IL, born August 10, 1930, in Collinsville, IL, died Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Sherbrooke Village, St. Louis, MO.

Mrs. Remelius was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. She was a homemaker who loved her time raising her six children. Later, Jeanette enjoyed volunteering as a tutor for children and assisting hospice patients.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Richard M. Remelius, whom she married on June 7, 1949, and who died on October 11, 2019; her parents, Edwin and Clara, nee Peach, Weissert; two sisters, Norma (Jim) Warhoover and Edna (Bob) Braswell; five brothers, Edwin Jr. (Betty) Weissert, Harold (Verla) Weissert, Kenneth (Doris) Weissert, Paul Weissert, and Donald Weissert; and a brother-in-law, Fred Trebilcock.

Surviving are three sons, Robert (Randy) Remelius, Gary (Elaine) Remelius, and Jeff (Shenandoah) Remelius; three daughters, Carol (Phillip) Smithpeters, Pamela (Rodney) Biehl, and Mary (Glenn) Friederich; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, JoAnn (Gene) Hyatt, Mary Trebilcock, and Margie (Tom) Madura; and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
