Jean Isenhart

Jean K. Isenhart, nee Playter, 88, of Columbia, IL, born August 24, 1938, at St. Mary’s Hospital, East St. Louis, IL, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Nexus of Columbia, Columbia, IL.

Jean attended St. Joseph and graduated from Saint Teresa’s Academy in 1956. In 1977, she earned her associate’s degree in accounting. She retired from Saint Clair Vocational SAVE, where she worked as a Human Resources professional.

She was active in her community and church, assisting in fundraising, bingo, and banking at the Saint Clair Fairgrounds. Jean proudly served as the first woman on the board of St. Teresa’s Parish and the first woman on the board of Little Knights Football. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, where she performed as a clown named “Peaches.”

Jean loved spending time with her family and friends. She lived her life for her grandchildren, who brought her the greatest joy. She was also an avid cook and was famous for her fried chicken.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Isenhart and Timothy Isenhart; her first husband, Dave Isenhart; her parents, Eugene Earl and Katheryn Elizabeth, nee Allen, Playter; and her brothers, James Playter and John Playter.

Jean is survived by her husband, Elmo Donoho; a son, Michael Isenhart; two daughters, Katheryn Isenhart-Hill and Elizabeth Isenhart; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Tim, Nicole, Becky, Dustin, Anna, Jake, Jessica, and Nicolas; several dear great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to St. Teresa Catholic Church or School. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Sunday, October 11, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 12 noon Sunday, October 11, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Deacon Corby Valentine officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL, at a later date.
