Jean Langen

Jean H. Langen, 93, of Godfrey, Illinois died on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at The United Methodist Village in Godfrey.Born on March 24, 1923 in Alton, she was the daughter of the late John and Eva (nee: Nachand) Hayden.  She married Robert K. Langen on July 8, 1944 and he preceded her in death on June 27, 1998.Jean was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandma.  She was a 1941 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School, long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church , The Ursuline Convent Auxiliary, and a volunteer at St. Anthony’s Hospital all in Alton.She is survived by 5 daughters: Nancy (John) Malone of Marana, AZ, Janet (John) Fischer of Plymouth, MN,  Patty (Richard) Dodd of Globe, AZ,  Beth (Tony) Joehl of Godfrey, and Mary (Bill Sheehan) Langen of Clive, IA.  2 sisters: Rosemary Bechtold of Godfrey, and Betty Wolfe of Colorado Springs, CO,  10 grandchildren: Katie (Eric) Tollund, Kelly (Ryan) Grygiel, Jennifer (Damian) McConn,  Joel (Alyssa) Fischer,  Shane (Carrah) Dodd,  Regan (Christie)  Joehl,  Janna (Ben)  Sidwell,  Drew (Hannah) Joehl,  Langen Goldstien and Hayden Goldstien.  17  Great-Grandchildren,  Addyson and Abigail Dodd,  Ian, Maura Jean and Ruairi McConn,  Nathan, Caleb, Jeremiah and Ryan Joehl,  Arne and Annika Tollund,  Riley and Quinn Grygiel, Audrina and Josslin Fischer,  James Sidwell, and baby Sidwell due in August, and many nieces & nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Norma Steinbach and Sister Jacqueline Hayden, A.P.B.Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m.   A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Father John Paul Klein, O.M.V. as celebrant.Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School or St. Mary’s Catholic Church both in Alton.An online tribute and guest book may be found at www.staten-fine.com
