Janis R. (Maronie) Hardesty, 72, of Wood River, passed away at 4:25 pm, on December 30, 2018, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 7, 1946, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Jasper J. and Georgia L. (McCormick) Maronie. She married Richard M. Hardesty, Sr, on July 12, 1986 in Rosewood Heights.
She retired from State of Illinois Department of Human Services. Janis liked playing Farmville on Facebook. She enjoyed fishing and boating, and loved all animals, and Michael Jackson. She also enjoyed being outdoors and loved her grandkids.
Janis leaves behind her children, Dena Lewis (fiancé Bryan Swank), Stacey (Paul) Everett, and step-son, Darrell Hardesty; seven grandchildren, Ketra Scott, Brianna Hoffmann, Kanbron (Tiffany) Main, Keeton Main, Jaycee Turner, Janelle Turner, and A.J. Main; and five great-grandchildren, Caylee, Benson, Kayson, Brinick, and Braxton.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Hardesty, Jr; and a sister, Darla Hubbert.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where services will take place on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1 pm. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
