ALTON – Janice Lucille Carroll, 76, died at 1:55 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at White Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on December 26, 1940 in Alton to Amrel & Margaret Sanders and attended Alton Schools.
She married Harold William “Buddy” Carroll on June 9, 1964 in Alton and together they were blessed with 46 years of marriage before his death on April 3, 2011.
Janice & Buddy’s married life led them to many different communities before eventually returning to and settling back in Alton.
A caregiver by nature, it is no surprise that when Janice decided to enter the workforce, she chose to pursue a career in Home Health, working at various locations throughout her life.
The love she had for her family was nothing short of amazing. There was no greater joy than when she was surrounded by her children and most especially her grandchildren whom she loved to spoil every chance she got.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Amrel & Tammy Carroll of Moro; two daughters, Helen Steele of Alton and Juanita Long and her fiancé Bill Hartman of Carrollton; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter, and one on the way; and a brother a sister-in-law, Harry & Donnita Woods of Edwardsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin infant daughters, Janice & Janet Carroll; a son-in-law, Steve Long and a half sister, Margaret Franklin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
In lieu of any flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
