Janice K. Hines, 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 22, 1936, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Wilburn and Margaret (Clements) Newcomb.
Janice married Jerry Ray Hines in 1956. He preceded her in death.
Janice worked as the development director for the Salvation Army prior to retirement. She was a member of Love Joy United Presbyterian Church in Wood River, and an active community volunteer.
Survivors include two children, Carter Hines and his wife Julia Gray-Hines of Savannah, GA, Holly Hines of Chicago, IL.; one sister and her husband, Joan and Pete Bivens of Bethalto; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Kim and Mo Ogle, Paula and Gary Bruening, and Steve and Nancy Bivens.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday the 15th of March at Love Joy United Presbyterian Church in Wood River with Rev. Carol DeVaughan officiating.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Burial will be at a later date at Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia SC.
Memorials may be given to The Natural Resources Defense Fund.
