Janice "Jan" J. Hartweger, 76, passed away at 1:16 am on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Foxes Grove in Wood River.
She was born on April 12, 1934 in Carlinville, IL, the daughter of William & Gertrude (Komnick) Stamme.
She married Edward "Ed" W. Hartweger on August 1, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Hans Bruss of Bunker Hill officiating. He passed away on August 19, 2007.
Jan was a homemaker most of her life but did work at Wood River Hospital for 3 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was involved as a Steven Minister. She was a foster grandparent over the last year and she enjoyed working with children. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband, flowers and birds, bowling and cooking. Most of all she loved being with her family.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike & Kathy Hartweger of Bethalto, Steve Hartweger of Cottage Hills, and Bryan Hartweger of Mendota, IL, six grandchildren, David and his companion, Katie, Matthew and his wife, Leah, Tim, Gillian, Jordan and Jamison and one great grandson Ethan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hofferber and Pastor Willard Meyer officiating.
Burial will take place at Bunker Hill City Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran School.
