Janice Smith

Janice Irene Smith, 72, died at 3:28 a.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville. 

She was born March 18, 1946 in Nutwood, IL the daughter of the late James and Fannie “Louise” (Fisk) McKenney.  She was a member of Abundant Life Community Church in Alton.  She worked for many years as a mental health technician at the Alton Mental Health Center.  On February 26, 1967 in Dow, IL she married James Abe “Jim” Smith and he survives.   

Also surviving are four brothers, Jeff (Kay) Clendenny, William (Violet) Clendenny, Jim Clendenny, Joe Clendenny and three sisters, Geraldine (Johnny) Patton, Janet (Dale) Triefenbach and Judy Warix.  

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James McKenney and Ernie McKenney.  

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Abundant Life Church in Alton. 

Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Pastor Roy Rhoades to officiate. 

Memorials may be made to Abundant Life Community Church in Alton.
