Janice Flood

Janice Carol Flood, 85, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at LaBella of Edwardsville.

Born on November 11, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, Janice was the beloved daughter of the late Carl W. and Esther A. (Shite) Clements. She married the love of her life, Gary R. Flood, on January 25, 1984, in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they shared 42 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable adventures. Though they had known one another since kindergarten, their lifelong friendship blossomed into a beautiful marriage that carried them on travels around the world and created a lifetime of cherished memories.

Janice enjoyed a distinguished career with Southwestern Bell, where she dedicated more than 35 years of service and retired as a respected manager. She was proud to be an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, valuing the friendships and opportunities to serve others through the organization. She also loved spending time at the YMCA, where she formed many lasting friendships and was known for her warm smile and kind spirit.

Above all, Janice treasured the people she loved. Her gentle heart, generous nature, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary R. Flood of Edwardsville; her brother, Gene Charles Clements of Collinsville; her nephew, Gene Clements Jr. and his wife, Kelly; two great-nieces, Abigail Cassing and her husband, Andrew, and Olivia Clements; a great-great-niece, Allison Cassing; other extended family members; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by those who welcomed her into eternal peace.

In celebration of her life, and in accordance with her wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
