Janet Jones

Janet Laverne Jones, 71, died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  Born September 13, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Robert and Laverne (McGhee) Burns.  Mrs. Jones was a bank officer for Mercantile Bank for over 20 years and worked as a cook for Artco Barge Company for over 20 years.  She was a member of the Greater Alton Church.  Surviving are two sons, Robert “Rob” Jones (Sarah) of Alton and Mark Jones (Tiffany) of O’Fallon, MO.  Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, Caty, Justin, Jordan, Carleigh, Chloe, Kaeden, Korbin and Kaylor, six great grandchildren, Reaghan, Urijah, Maverick, Lyla, Ayven and Peyton as well as one on the way, and one brother, James “Jim” Burns (Diane) of Fredericktown, MO.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lehman Burns and a sister, Barbara Anselman.  A celebration of life service will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 in the banquet hall at Bluff City Grill, 424 East Broadway in Alton.   Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
