Janet K. McBride, 79, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born November 6, 1937 in Alton, she was the daughter of Vernon A. and Viola Isabelle (Neikirk) Rust. Mrs. McBride was a member of the Greater Alton Church in Rosewood Heights. She worked as a housekeeper and nanny for the McDonald family in Godfrey for many years and loved being a mail carrier in Fairmount. She married Harold F. “Mac” McBride. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2011. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and David Woodrum of St. Louis, MO, two grandchildren, Daniel and Christopher Florer, one brother, Gary Arnold Rust of Durham, NC, a niece, Wendy Rust of Glen Carbon and her beloved dog Buddy and furry grandkids, Sheba, Shadow and Bo. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Florer. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at he Greater Alton Church in Rosewood Heights. Reverend Tim Gill will officiate. Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter or the Greater Alton Church. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
