Janet Lee Cowley, 84, of Granite City, Illinois passed away peacefully at 12:07 p.m. with her family at her side on Monday, December 15, 2025.
She was born November 1, 1941, in Granite City, the daughter of the late Edward and Alene (Anderson) Robertson.
She married the love of her life, Frank Raymond Cowley on February 4, 1961, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Venice, Illinois and he passed away on January 6, 2023.
Janet had retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City after 15 years of dedicated and caring service as a nurse. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her family, cherished her grandchildren and loved her dachshunds throughout the years.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Cowley of Granite City; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Becky (Kozyak) Cowley of Maryville; three grandchildren and a spouse, Nicholas Roderick of Granite City, Ian and Alexis Cowley of Collinsville and Jacob Cowley of Maryville; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Robertson.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jennifer Warren-Hauser officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the Granite City APA.
