Jane Doerr

Jane L. Doerr, 95, passed away at 10:00 am Friday, August 5, 2016, at Bethalto Care Center.She was born October 22, 1920, in Auburn, Illinois, the daughter of William and Blanche (Bale) Thomae. Jane married John N. Doerr on October 5, 1940, in Chatham, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on November 24, 1992.She worked in the Cafeteria for the Alton Public School System. She was a member of Bethalto Presbyterian Church, Senior Citizens, a 50 year member of Eastern Star and WWI Auxiliary, with her father. Jane was an avid quilter and enjoyed teaching Sunday school for 50 years.She is survived by three children and their spouses, Steve and Sue Doerr of Brighton, Jill and George Hair of Bethalto, Jeanie and Lee McCoy of Bethalto; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister Julie Reyne of Godfrey; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters, Sue Showers, Wanda Schenato and Nellie Kojiro.  Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, August 8, 2016, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Services will be at 10 am on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Wray officiating.Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Bethalto Presbyterian Church.An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
