James Warren

James "Jim" William Warren, 75, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Born on July 16, 1950, in Alton, Illinois, Jim was the son of the late Freamon Warren and Evelyn Nelson. He lived a life centered around family, hard work, and the things he loved most. On February 21, 1975, he married Diane Kay Lemon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wood River. Together they shared 44 years of marriage, raising their family, and creating a lifetime of memories before her passing in 2019.

Jim spent many years working at Olin Brass, where he was known for being dependable, hardworking, and dedicated to his work. After retirement, he continued to stay active by driving a school bus, a role he genuinely enjoyed because it allowed him to connect with the community and the students he saw each day.

Outside of work, Jim had a passion for history, motorcycle riding, golf, trivia, model building, and classic cars. Whether he was out on a ride, spending time on the golf course, working on a model, or talking about cars, he found joy in the hobbies that brought the people he cared about together.

Above all else, Jim loved his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Diane; his daughter, Krystal Brinkman; his parents; and his brother, John Warren.

He is survived by his son, James Warren of Edwardsville; his son-in-law, Tom Brinkman of Fosterburg; and his cherished grandchildren, Drew, Libby, and Brailey. He took great pride in his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow into the people they are today.

Those who knew Jim will remember his stories, dad jokes, and the quiet way he showed his love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Alton American Legion, 600 George Street, Alton, Illinois. Memorials may be made to American Legion Charities.
