East Alton—James W. Sneed, Sr., 64, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 5, 1953 in Kennett, MO, he was a son of Burl W. Sneed Sr. and Joan P. (Brandt) Walton.
He married Kimberly D. Cornelius Aug. 16, 1991 in East Alton. She survives.
James loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking them several times to Branson and camping. He loved working on the house, and he had a knack for learning how to fix anything that needed it, just by reading about it.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Joan Walton of Cottage Hills; two sons, James W. Sneed, Jr. and his wife Maggie of Overland Park, KS and Nicholas Sneed and his wife Brandy of Jacksonville, IL; two daughters, Ashley P. Sneed and her husband Daniel Barnett of Collinsville and Paige A. Sneed of East Alton; 7 grandchildren, L.J., Jeremy, Eric, Novemberlynn, Nathaniel, Alex and Oliver; his siblings and their spouses, Mike Sneed of Cottage Hills, Charlie and Jan Sneed of Wood River, Sherry and Dan Morhaus of Maryville, Stanley and Dru Sneed and Gene Sneed, all of Cottage Hills; and his parents-in-law, Daniel and Karen Cornelius of Dow, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Burl W. Sneed, Sr.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 4 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5. Pastor David Brown will officiate.
Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.
