James Thomas Estes Sr., 70, of East Alton, IL, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Fri. May 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 5, 1945 in Alton, IL to the late Harvey Estes and Dorothy (Peters) Estes.
On June 6, 1963, he and Carolyn Sue (Willard) Estes were married in St. Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on Apr. 7, 2016.
Mr. Estes was a U.S. Army veteran and was later employed by Federal Metallurgical Steel.
Survivors include: a son, James T. (Pamela) Estes Jr. of East Alton, 2 daughters, Teresa McCollum of Alton and Julie Estes of Brighton, IL, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his step-parents, James L. & Helen Hartley.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
Private burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey at a later date.
