James Russell Crause, 77, passed away 3:52 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Alton on January 27, 1940, he was the son of the late James W. and Evelyn Faye (Fowler) Crause.
Jim had been an agent for Prudential Insurance and the later an Inspector for the City of Wood River before retiring.
He enjoyed spending his spare time doing home repairs, golfing, playing cards. He was devoted to his family and was proud of his children and all their accomplishments. He dearly loved his grandchildren, most of all watching them learn and play.
Jim fought many medical battles in his lifetime. He just knew he was going to win again - but God must have seen how he suffered and decided he would be given eternal rest
On December 11, 1964 in Wood River, he married Helen Burger. She survives.
Surviving also are a son, James (Sarah) Crause of Godfrey; daughter, Lisa Crause of Godfrey; two grandchildren, Charlotte Jane Crause, Mason James Crause; and three brothers, Paul (Carolyn) Crause of Alton, Tom (Carolee) Crause of Springfield, IL, Philip (Gail) Crause of Wood River, mother-in-law, Doris J. Burger of Wood River; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Monday, August 28 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Jerry McCaskey will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Foundation.
