James Russell Cope, 68, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at 12:03 p.m. Sat. Dec. 1, 2018 at his home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1950 in Williamsport, IN to the late Raymond Russell and Martha Josephine (VanBrunt) Cope.
On Jan. 9, 1993, he and Teresa Kay Easter were married in Watseka, IL. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2013.
James retired in 2013 as a maintenance custodian for McDonald?s after more than 20 years of service. He was friendly and outgoing and loved history, astronomy and the sciences, reading, animals and birds and sci-fi films.
He is survived by 4 siblings: Roger Dale Cope of South Roxana, IL, Carol Cope of IL, Evelyn (Mark) Bowman of Ballwin, MO and Sandra Cope of South Roxana, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
