James L. Roe, 78, passed away 5:20 p.m., July 28, 2017 at OSF St.Anthony Health Center.
Born in Alton on July 26, 1939, he was the son of Roy D. and Gertrude (Seivers) Roe.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-61 and then was employed as a forklift and tractor driver for the Olin Corporation for 39 years before retiring in 1994.
On August 13, 1965 in Wood River, he married Sharon Kay Grable. She survives.
Surviving also are a son, Tracy (Sheila) Roe of Alton; daughter, Michelle Johnson of East Alton; four grandchildren, Jessica, Lindsay, Ashley and Brandon Johnson; great grandson, Braxton Johnson; and sister, Mary Lou Campbell of Rosewood Heights.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
