James Richards

James Robert “Jim” Richards age 60, died May 7, 2017 at his home in St. Peters, Missouri. He was born December 1, 1956, in Alton, IL, the much awaited, anticipated and loved son of Robert W. and Mary Louise Richards (nee Strejcek). His parents preceded him in death.

He married the love of his life, Char Mofield, November 7, 1986. She survives along with two children, Nathan James Richards of Edwardsville and Nikki Lynn Richards of South City, St. Louis, Missouri.  Also surviving are sisters, Deborah Richards of Edwardsville, Jane Richards (Charlie Rollman) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kate (John) Motley of Glen Carbon.  He was loved by all his nieces and nephews.

Jim spent the majority of his life in Edwardsville. He graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1975 and attended Millikin University and Eastern Illinois University. He began working for the family business, Richards Brick Company, as a teenager. He served as a dispatcher and later as a salesman for the company. He also served as Vice-President of the company.

Jim was a loving husband and father. He loved golf, sunshine, dogs, and was a big fan of the Blues and the Cards. He was also a gifted singer. Jim had a great sense of humor, was ever-playful and fun to be around. He was an avid reader.  He will be sorely missed by his wife, children, family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home Friday, May12th from 4 – 7 PM.  A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 13th at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Edwardsville High School Golf or Swim Team.
