James Mueller

James “Jim” Henry Mueller, 74, of Belleville, IL, born February 22, 1951, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, January 4, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Jim graduated from Althoff Catholic High School and followed in his father’s footsteps as a union painter. He was married to his wife JoAnn for over 50 years. They were blessed with two daughters, a son-in-law, and four grandchildren. He loved sharing stories with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Jack and Jonathan play baseball, getting hugs from Finley, and listening to Camas’s fishing stories.

Jim managed Mueller Painting for many years, taking great pride in his workmanship before his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim was a longtime member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local Union 85, and Ducks Unlimited.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Irene, nee Haas, Mueller; and a brother, Joseph Mueller.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, JoAnn Mueller, nee Middendorf, whom he married on July 6, 1974; two daughters, Jody (Justin) Barlow and Jennifer Mueller; four grandchildren, Jack Barlow (Ella Gagen), Jonathan Barlow, Finley Price, and Camas Price; three brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Mueller, Thomas Mueller, and John Mueller; a sister, Mary (Larry) Waite; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Mueller; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
