James Kopp

James "Jim" M. Kopp, 80, of Alton, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at his home.

He was born on October 31, 1944, in Roxana, IL, the son of the late, Herman John and Ila Fern (Worthy) Kopp. Jim Married Mary A. (Bowen) in Atchison, KS on August 15, 1983. She survives.

Jim along with his wife, were owner/operators of Kopp Heating and Air Conditioning and also Kopp's Korner Bar in Alton and Granite City. He was a charter member of the BushPilot M/C. Jim enjoyed working on his 1960 Corvette, drag racing car's , racing dirt track cars, and riding motorcycles. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and helping anyone that he could. He will be sadly missed.

Along with his wife, Mary, he is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Duckett of Granite City; a son, Richard Adkins of Alton; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Chastity(Aaron) Niemeyer, Martin (Amber) Kopp, Jr., Robert Kopp, Steven Rhyne, Robin Duckett, Roger Duckett, Anthony Waggoner and Tiffany (DJ) Ernzen; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Charlotte Colbert of California.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy Davis; a son, Marty Kopp; and siblings, Glendora (Dodie) Hines, Virginia M. Flagg, Vetty L. Morgan, Norman Kopp, Charles Kopp, and William Kopp.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with burial to follow at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.

Memorials are suggested to The American Cancer Society.
