James “Jim” Hayden, 75, died at 8:41 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home.  Born September 23, 1942 in Jerseyville, he was the son of James and Ardell (Gerard) Hayden.  Mr. Hayden worked for Owens Illinois Glass for 15 years and retired from Labor Local #218 of Alton.  He was a longtime member of Heartland Baptist Church.  On February 15, 1964 he married the former Paulette L. Ives.  She survives.  Also surviving are three daughters, Robin White (Rodney) of Brighton, Rhonda Peckham (Todd) of Alton, and Stacy Hall (Mark) of Dow.  Nine grandchildren, Jamie Milligan (Matt), Daniel White (Christine), Cody Peckham (fiancé Sydney Carothers), Connor Peckham, Katherine Hall, Christopher Hall, Genevieve Hall, Matthew Hall, and Robert Hall, two great grandchildren, Lydia and Layla Milligan, his “little sunshine’s.”  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Hall.  Visitation will be from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018.  Brian Magnuson will officiate.  Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Dow.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
