James “Jim” Hartwell Holland, age 81, passed away at 3:00 am October 26, 2017 at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
He was born on November 16, 1935 in Ellsnore, Missouri the son of the late Earl and Vernon Lola (Adams) Holland. He was married to Betty (Cottingham) in Hardin in 1952 and she passed away May 1972. He was then formerly married to Delores A. (Branham) in Alton on December 31, 1979, she survives.
Jim served his country in the United States Airforce. He worked as a machinist at McDonnell Douglas for many years, retiring in 1999. Jim was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville and the Kampsville American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry Lee & Sandy Holland of Indiana; two step daughters and their spouses, Lela & Denver Groves of Jerseyville and Arvella & Ed Noel of Shipman; two brothers and their spouses, Wendell & JoAnn Holland and Sam & Grace Holland; two sisters, Geneva Sanders and Sharon Holland and several nieces, nephews and tons of friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife; seven siblings, Bob Holland, Bud Holland, Bill Holland, Roy Holland, Tom Holland, Edna Beam and Maxine Narup.
Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin. Burial will follow at the Hardin City Cemetery with military rites being performed by the Kampsville American Legion.
