James Garrison

James Garrison III, age 55 of Wood River and formerly Freeburg, Edwardsville, Waterloo, and Pocahontas area, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton, Illinois.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026, Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. 

James Franklin III, the son of James Franklin Jr. and Deanna Kay Moss Garrison, was born May 28, 1971, in Winter Haven, Florida. James was raised in Pocahontas, Illinois and central Illinois areas. He graduated from High School Belleville East Special Education with the Class of 1993. He never moved somewhere without meeting new friends. His warm smile and friendly personality made James welcome in any home he moved to.

James is survived by his mother Deanna Garrison of O’Fallon, Missouri and a brother Kenneth Lenard Garrison of Highland, Illinois, aunts and uncles: Marjorie Albers, Mark Moss, and Ronald Moss.

Preceded in death by two uncles: Lenard Moss Jr. and Rodney Moss.
