James Farmer, 69, of Wood River passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Christian North East Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born January 13, 1948 in Alton, MO to Henry and Georgia Rose (Wheeler) Farmer. Jim served in the United Sates Army and the Air National Guard retiring after 20 years of service to his Country. He married Judy Rhodes August 8, 1968; she preceded him in death September 7, 1994. He later married his longtime friend and companion Paula Burroughs April 12, 2008; they enjoyed 24 years together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family was his pride and joy. Jim was very well liked and had numerous friends.
He was survived by his wife, Paula (Burroughs) Farmer of Wood River; two sons, Dave (Elizabeth) Farmer of Bethalto and Kevin (Angie) Farmer of Wood River and daughter, Kim (Donald) Daugherty of Wood River; three grandchildren, Judy Kaye Daugherty, Bryce Holland and Lance Farmer and a sister, Verla Seely of Bethalto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; brother, Bill Wheeler and a brother-in-law and close friend Bob Seely.
Visitation will be 4- 7 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
